Unfortunately, the rotating cradles are so big that quite a few bikes (including my GT XCR) start having trouble fitting into them without quite a bit of twisting and pushing, on top of that pretty much render crossbars useless. We had five bikes in our household, and the rack cradles would not fit a single bike. We tried two mountain bikes, a 5-year-old's bike, and a 7-year-old's bike. Works great. It also leans away from the vehicle (Toyota Rav4) about 2.5 feet, which allows us to still be able to access the back of the vehicle thru the rear door. HOWEVER, THIS DEVICE IS VERY HEAVY. My wife has trouble getting it on the hitch by herself; she's done it, but only when she had to because I wasn't around; and she certainly doesn't like to do it. Even for me, this is a heavy piece of equipment. Not sure the weight, but you may want to look it up before you buy - it's that heavy!That said, this is a very quality piece of equipment. We are VERY HAPPY with how it has held up over the last four years. Very solid. Very durable. Very secure. We love it. |
