However it's not designed for the mountain bikes popular in the US but rather for the commuter bikes common in Holland (where the product is manufactured). Those who travel to Amsterdam regularly know the bike I'm referring to: less aggressive upright riding position with handlebars, on long necks, that curve back almost to your hips. But with certain other styles of bikes you can still make this seat work.Very important: If your bike's handlebar neck is greater than 1.1 inches in diameter then the "adapter" they ship with the seat won't fit, because bolts are too short, and you won't be able to mount the seat. My bike, the Trek Soho [...] has a relatively thin 1.33" neck but the bolts still don't reach. So if you have a big "stocky" mountain bike you definitely can't use the... The Yepp Mini fit the bill perfectly! He would ride up front, and hold onto the handle, and look around at everything passing by. He even grew to tolerate the helmet, because he knew it meant we were going on a bike ride!He has finally grown out of it, but I got a good year of riding with him that I thought I would have to miss! The only reason I give it 4 stars is that the mount only fit on my mom's bike. It was too thick to fit on the stem of either my bike or my husband's bike. Frankly, I think my husband is just relieved to have our son ride behind him. He didn't like having him up where his knees bumped into the back of the seat. This was never a problem for me, and the benefit of having him where I could see him while he was still so small was fantastic! |
